ユキオ・リピット
美術建築史教授
1993年、ハーバード大学にて学士号（文学）、プリンストン大学にて1998年に修士号、2003年に博士号（ともに美術・考古学）を取得後、2003年ハーバード大学美術建築史学部。その他所属機関にCentre Parisien d’Etudes Critiques（1993〜94年）、東京大学（1998年〜2000年）。また2002〜2003年、ワシントンD.C.のナショナル・ギャラリー・オブ・アートのCenter for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) で Andrew W. Mellon Fellowとして1年間所属した後、2004年〜2005年Getty Postdoctoral Fellow となる。東京大学、ハイデルベルグ大学、カンピーナス大学（ブラジル）にて客員教授を歴任。
中世（1200〜1600年）・近世（1600〜1868年）の日本絵画及び日本建築史を中心に著作、講義を行う。著書の 『Painting of the Realm: The Kano House of Painters in Seventeenth-Century Japan』 (2012) で、College Art Association よりCharles Rufus Morey Book Award 、アジア学会 (AAS)よりJohn Whitney Hall Book Prize を受賞。2013年、論文「Of Modes and Manners in Medieval Japanese Ink Painting: Sesshū’s Splashed Ink Landscape of 1495」でCollege Art AssociationよりArthur Kingsley Porter Prizeを受賞。その他の著書 に、『The Artist in Edo』、『Irresolution: The Paintings of Yoshiaki Shimizu』、『Japanese Zen Buddhism and the Impossible Painting』、『Colorful Realm: Japanese Bird-and-Flower Paintings by Itō Jakuchū (1716-1800)』。共編著に『Sōtatsu: Making Waves』（James Ulak）、『The Thinking Hand: Tools and Traditions of the Japanese Carpenter』 (Mark Mulligan)、『Kenzo Tange: Architecture for the World』 (Seng Kuan), 『Awakenings: Zen Figure Painting in Medieval Japan』(Gregory Levine)。
今後のプロジェクトに、中世水墨画についての著書『Illusory Abode』の執筆、阿修羅像、足利コレクション、『Tōhaku on Painting』、伊勢神宮、僧で水墨画家の雪村周継、 芸術における人間工学、正倉院宝物の研究等。2013〜18年には、ラドクリフ研究所長を務める。2018年、5年間の学部生への指導が評価され、Harvard College Professorを受賞。
